How FPL Bonus Points Work
Every player who plays earns a Bonus Points System (BPS) score from a wide range of match stats — goals, assists, clean sheets, key passes, saves, tackles, recoveries and more, with deductions for things like errors and cards. After each match the three highest BPS scores get 3, 2 and 1 bonus points.
Ties share the bonus. If two players tie for first, both get 3 and the next player gets 1. A tie for second gives 3, 2 and 2. A tie for third gives 3, 2, 1 and 1. Our projections apply these rules exactly.
During a match, bonus is projected from live BPS and can still change — since 2026/27 FPL also adds projected bonus to live scores from the 20th minute. It stays provisional after the final whistle until FPL confirms it.
For 2026/27 FPL rebalanced BPS to reduce overlap with defensive contribution points: clearances, blocks and interceptions earn BPS less generously, players are no longer penalised for being tackled, and goalkeepers earn more for saves.
